Turn MPEG, MPG, VOB, TS, M2TS, AVI, MOV, MKV and WebM files into MP4 that plays everywhere. See what is inside each file, remux in seconds when the streams already fit, and convert a whole batch in your browser.
MPG, MPEG, VOB, TS, M2TS, MTS, AVI, MOV, MKV, WebM, WMV and FLV · up to 10 files · 200 MB and 10 minutes each.
Your files stay in this browser. No uploads, accounts or credits.
Each file type takes a different path. The queue shows the plan before anything runs.
MPEG-2 video with AC-3 or MP2 sound, usually interlaced and widescreen. Re-encoded and deinterlaced with the correct 16:9 shape.
AVCHD and M2TS recordings already hold H.264, so they are remuxed in seconds. AC-3 audio becomes AAC.
MPEG-4 Part 2 video and MP3 audio from the 2000s, re-encoded to H.264 and AAC for phones and editors.
MKV, MOV and TS files with H.264 are remuxed losslessly; WebM and HEVC can be re-encoded or kept.
Drop up to 10 MPEG, VOB, TS, AVI, MOV or MKV files. Each file is read in your browser to show its container, codecs, size and length.
Files that already hold H.264 video are remuxed in seconds with no quality loss. Everything else is re-encoded to H.264 and AAC with the quality you choose.
Preview each result, download it, grab every file in one ZIP, or send a clip straight to the splitter, compressor or GIF maker.
The container is only the wrapper. What decides the speed is the video codec inside it.

Not quite. MPEG-4 is a family of standards. MP4 is its file format (MPEG-4 Part 14), which usually holds H.264 video and AAC audio. Older files labelled MPEG-4 often contain MPEG-4 Part 2 video (Xvid or DivX), sometimes inside AVI. This converter re-encodes that video to H.264 so the MP4 plays on phones, browsers and editors.
Remuxing copies the existing video and audio streams into a new MP4 container without decoding them. It takes seconds and keeps the original quality. It is used when a file already holds H.264 video, as most TS, M2TS, MKV and MOV recordings do. MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Xvid, WMV and similar video has to be re-encoded.
A remux does not change the picture at all. A re-encode is very close to the original at the High setting; Balanced is a good default, and Smaller file trades some detail for size. Interlaced DVD and broadcast footage is deinterlaced so motion looks smooth instead of combed.
Yes, VOB files copied from an unprotected DVD convert like any MPEG-2 file, and widescreen DVDs come out with the correct 16:9 shape. A DVD splits one title into several VOB files of up to 1 GB, so convert the parts you need (up to 200 MB each). Copy-protected discs are not supported.
No. Files are read and converted on your device with a video engine that runs in the browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything that you have not downloaded.
Each file can be up to 200 MB and 10 minutes, and one batch holds up to 10 files (1 GB in total). Remuxing works at any resolution up to 4K. Re-encoding is limited to about 3 minutes of 1080p or 10 minutes of DVD-size video per file, because it runs on a single browser thread.
